Construction is set to begin Monday in Alpharetta for work to ease traffic congestion during peak commuting periods on Kimball Bridge Road between North Point Parkway and Waters Road.

“The first stages of construction beginning Feb. 3 will include installing erosion control measures (and) tree save fencing, and clearing of the right of way,” the city said. “Heavy traffic delays due to construction should be expected.”

Plans call for extending the dedicated right-turn lane from eastbound Kimball Bridge to Waters all the way back to North Point to ease the evening commute; extending the dedicated right-turn lane from westbound Kimball Bridge to North Point to better handle the morning commute; and creating a roundabout at Kimball Bridge and Rock Mill roads.

Wide sidewalks on the south side of Kimball Bridge also are planned, while Fulton County lays a water main 4,650 feet long within the construction zone.

The project is scheduled to be completed in the summer of 2021. Information: Geoff Sarra, gsarra@alpharetta.ga.us or https://bit.ly/2U89UTQ
