Alpharetta American Legion announces scholarship programs

Nov 29, 2010Alpharetta American Legion Post 201 is offering two scholarship programs for students.
The first is the American Legion High School Oratorical Contest, with prizes at the local, area, state and national levels. The competition will be Feb. 16 at the Post at 201 Wills Road. Application deadline is Feb. 1.
The Legion also awards four $1,000 scholarships to deserving, college-bound high school seniors each year. Deadline for applications is March 25.
Jay Coleman, Legion scholarship coordinator, said students should consult with their school guidance counselor, who must approve applications.
