Two people who allegedly posed as cops and handcuffed victims during a home invasion soon found themselves in cuffs.

The pair, part of a crew of four, were arrested in Fayette County in connection with a home invasion there Friday morning.

Sheriff's deputies responded to a house on Kimberly Court at 9:30 a.m. after four suspects posing as cops entered the home, handcuffed three adults then assaulted them at gunpoint, said investigator Brent Rowan of the Fayette County Sheriff's Office.

The four fled with several items, but the victims were able to give deputies a description of the getaway car: a late-model, white Chevrolet Impala.

By 10 a.m., deputies had spotted a car matching that description about 12 miles away, on Ga. 74 at Tyrone Road. They stopped it and detained the two occupants, who were later identified by the victims as their assailants, Rowan said. He added that the car contained items that the victims had reported stolen.

Investigators are withholding the two suspects' identities because the investigation is ongoing, Rowan said.

They were taken to the Fayette County Jail, with criminal charges pending.
