Detectives in Cobb County traveled to Morrow on Wednesday to nab a man who allegedly raped a woman Tuesday afternoon.

The woman told police Tuesday that she was raped in her unit at the Kenwood Creek Apartments in the 2300 block of Cobb Parkway in Smyrna after returning home from a store with her daughter.

A man forced his way into her apartment, raped her, then fled in her car, said Sgt. Dana Pierce of the Cobb County Police Department.

It didn't take police long to track the man down.

Cobb detectives found the victim's car at a hotel in Morrow just after midnight Wednesday and made their catch when a man returned to the car just after noon.

Craig Leon Fields, 26, of Rex, was arrested without incident and taken to the Cobb County Adult Detention Center. He was charged with rape, burglary and cruelty to children in the second degree.
