The management of Allatoona Lake in Cherokee and Bartow counties is advertising entry-level ranger positions available to qualified, recent college graduates. The deadline to apply is 4:30 p.m. Friday, July 26.

The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers seeks park rangers who have graduated in the last two years with a bachelor's degree in the biological sciences, agriculture, natural resources/recreation management, or a related discipline, according to a Facebook posting.

Rangers work weekends, evenings and holidays. They patrol the lake area; provide information to visitors; monitor beaches, boat ramps and campgrounds; conduct interpretative programs, and work with volunteers, among other duties.

The position is a federal GS-0401 position with a starting annual salary of $35,701 and potential to advance to the GS-09 level after two years with an annual salary of $54,095.
