Advance voting for a June 16 special election in Forsyth County is underway, and will run through June 12.

Voters will pick a replacement for former Cumming City Council member Rupert Sexton, who retired from the Post 1 position at the beginning of May. They’ll also fill the Georgia House District 24 seat, which encompasses all or portions of a half-dozen Forsyth precincts. The vacancy resulted from the May 11 resignation of Mark Hamilton, who announced plans to accept a private sector job in Tennessee.

Voting hours are 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. daily Monday through Friday through June 5 at the Forsyth County Administration Building, 110 E. Main St., Cumming and Cumming City Hall, 100 Main St. A third location will be added beginning June 6 and hours will change somewhat.
