The Acworth Board of Aldermen agreed 5-0 Thursday to pay around $1.1 million for the construction of the Taylor Street Improvement Project.

Baldwin Paving Co., Inc. was awarded the contract.

Taylor Street will be extended from Southside Drive to Cherokee Street for widening, curb and gutter, City Manager Brian M. Bulthuis explained to the AJC.

About $300,000 extra will be added to the special purpose local option sales tax budget - in addition to the $1.1 million - to cover all construction, engineering and property acquisition costs for this project.
