The Save Acworth History Foundation (SAHF) will accept historical pictures, artifacts and memorabilia from 10 a.m. to noon on July 30 at Acworth City Hall, 4415 Senator Russell Ave.

Many of the previously donated items already are on display at the city’s new Depot Park History Center, 4794 S. Main St., Acworth that opened on June 26.

A 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization, the SAHF would like to have new inventory to keep the slide show and artifact cabinet versatile.

To prepare for the holiday display, the SAHF also is seeking donations of holiday items.

Pictures will be scanned for the Archives and returned to participants that day.

All donated items, such as artifacts, will become the city’s property.

This depot is the fourth installment - built as part of a downtown park on the site where a railroad depot served the community for greater than 125 years.

First occupying the site in the 1840s, that depot was burned during the Civil War.

Then it was rebuilt after the war and replaced by a new, larger depot in 1893.

This new depot houses a history center, featuring a kiosk with videos detailing the history of Acworth and remembrances of many citizens collected by the Save Acworth History Foundation in its video history series.

Also on display are the original freight scales from the 1893 depot.
