The Lemon Street railroad crossing in Acworth was closed Jan. 8 to prepare for construction of the towers for the pedestrian bridge, according to city officials in an email update.

Work will continue along the new Lemon Street roadway with installation of walls and underground utilities.

There also will be continued work on the western parking lot area along Southside Drive next to School Street.

The downtown redevelopment project is expected to be completed by the end of this year or early next year.
