The Acworth Police Department has received state certification that will last through March 31, 2018.

Chief D. Wayne Dennard was recognized recently by Frank V. Rotondo, executive director of the Georgia Association of Chiefs of Police, with a plaque for meeting all 129 standards for department policies and procedures.

Lt. Charlie Ball also received a plaque for his efforts with the process.

Out of 700 law enforcement agencies in Georgia, only 118 are accredited by the association.
