The Acworth Board of Aldermen voted 5-0 on April 2 to raise the annual salaries of the mayor and the five aldermen, beginning Jan. 1, 2022.

That date would mark the beginning of new terms of office for these elected officials.

The annual salary for the mayor will increase from $20,400 to $27,500.

For each of the five aldermen, the annual salary will rise from $13,200 to $18,000.

The last time their salaries increased was in 2007.

No one made any comments on this issue - except for one person thanking them for closing the city’s parks.

City Manager Brian Bulthuis said a glitch occurred when the code for the Zoom video connection did not work during the board’s first online meeting due to social distancing guidelines regarding the coronavirus.

Instead Mayor Tommy Allegood and Bulthuis said comments still may be sent to PublicComment@acworth.org for response regarding any matter on the agenda.
