The Acworth Board of Aldermen may decide during the 7 p.m. April 2 meeting whether or not to increase the annual salaries of the mayor and the aldermen effective Jan. 1, 2022.

By waiting until Jan. 1, 2022, the new terms of office will begin for the mayor and aldermen.

The current mayor is Tommy Allegood.

The aldermen are Butch Price, Gene Pugliese, Brett North, Tim Richardson and Tim Houston.

If approved, the annual salary for the mayor would increase from $20,400 to $27,500.

For each of the five aldermen, the annual salary would rise from $13,200 to $18,000.

The last time their salaries increased was in 2007, according to Acworth City Clerk Regina Russell in a March 31 email to The Atlanta Journal-Constitution.
