A new senior living community is coming to Acworth. Applicant John Moore was granted the rezoning by a 4-1 vote Thursday by the Acworth Board of Aldermen with Butch Price opposed.

Price had wanted the aldermen to table the matter for two weeks to allow Moore and adjoining neighbors to work out their differences such as about stream protection, but his motion failed.

Now pasture land, the 6.53 acres at 3745 Acworth Due West Road will include quads of four attached single-story homes with optional second-level guest suites, a central lobby and common areas such as a media room.

Moore said the development will be similar to their Stonehaven Villas at the corner of Mars Hill and Mars Hill Church Roads “with zero impact on schools and low impact on traffic and law enforcement.”

Stonehaven Villas was built by Paulding Construction Solutions based in Kennesaw.
