Hey guys! Let's talk movies.
Reader Mike writes: What movie are they filming in Bethesda Park?
Nice question, Mike. Let me answer it real fast. And furiously.
They were filming "Fast 8" — the latest installation in the vroom-vroom-my-car-is-super-cool movie franchise that's somehow owned America's collective heart for the last 15 years or so — at Bethesda Park over the weekend. It appears The Rock was there and everything.
(For the unfamiliar: Bethesda Park is a 159-acre park on Bethesda Church Road, right off Ronald Reagan Parkway in Lawrenceville. It's quite nice.)
"Fast 8" has been filming in the Atlanta (and Cleveland, Ohio, and Cuba) areas for the last several months, and it appears the stop in Lawrenceville was a quick — but fun — one. Not sure what it has to do with fancy cars (I haven't seen a "Fast" movie since the first one, when I was about 14 years old and very much wanted a car with NOS), but the aforementioned Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson appears to have posted a "very manly" glimpse of the filming on his Instagram page Saturday.
The scene at Bethesda seemed to be all clear by Monday, if not sooner.
"Fast 8" is scheduled to hit theaters on April 14, 2017, Mike — so you'll have to have to wait till then to see if your favorite swingset makes an appearance.
