A proposed development on the northeast corner of East Lake Road and Springdale Road, with a mix of duplexes and townhomes on 50 acres, hit another roadblock at the May 19 regular meeting of the Henry County Board of Commissioners when a motion to approve the rezoning request failed for lack of a second.

The proposal was recommended for approval with conditions in May of last year by the county’s Zoning Advisory Board but has faced citizen opposition throughout the process, and the commissioners tabled it last October. It came up again in January but the applicant requested that it be postponed after that meeting’s public hearing on the matter. The motion to approve was made by Vivian Thomas, in whose district the subject property lies and who has been working with the applicant and others to help move the project along through the process.

The applicant seeks rezoning to RS (residential suburban).
