Three Buford men are accused of trying to sell $55,000 worth of fake methamphetamine to an undercover police officer.

Thomas Delacruz, 26, Ricky Escobedo, 30, and Miguel Delacruz, 24, each have been charged with possession of an imitation controlled substance with the intent to distribute, according to the Hall County Sheriff's Office.

The three believed they would be selling three pounds of fake drugs to a potential buyer Friday, but instead were met by an undercover officer, police said. Two of the men attempted to run, but were quickly captured, police said.

All three were booked into the Hall County jail.

The FBI and officers with the Gainesville-Hall County drug and gang task forces assisted with the investigation.
