The pace of early voting picked during the third and final week of before-the-election balloting in Forsyth County’s special election Tuesday.

Just over 1,500 advance ballots were cast, and about 1,030 of them came during the final week, said Elections Supervisor Barbara Luth. That’s out of some 38,000 eligible voters in several precincts and in the city of Cumming. Luth labeled that as “about average” for a special election.

On Tuesday, voters will choose a replacement for Rupert Sexton, who vacated his Post 1 Cumming City Council seat at the end of April. They’ll also choose among several candidates to replace Mark Hamilton as state representative from Georgia House District 24. Hamilton accepted an out-of-state job.
