An AAA Traffic Safety Grant will pay for two traffic speed radar signs for the Woodstock Police Department.

The auto association recently notified the department that it has been awarded the $5,796 grant to pay for two Traffic Logix SafePace 100 Radar Speed Signs. The devices come with lithium-ion batteries, AC chargers, Bluetooth capability, mounting brackets and SafePace Pro software, city documents say.

Studies have shown that speed monitoring displays are effective in reducing speeding and increasing speed limit compliance, officials said.

“I am appreciative of AAA South for providing funding assistance for the acquisition of radar speed signs through which we can jointly help improve roadway safety,” said Police Chief Calvin W. Moss.
