I-985 will be like new after a fresh coat of paint and some sanding

Last month a $9.5 million contract was awarded to Diamond Surface Inc. of Rogers, Minnesota for improvements to Interstate 985 (I-985) .

In addition to replacing the pavement markings on the interstate, this project will grind all 96 miles of the driving surface, smoothing the areas of earlier slab replacements.

Lane closures for the project will be allowed overnight from 7 p.m. to 6 a.m. Monday through Sunday and the entrance and exit ramps will remain open at all times during this work.

Crews will not begin work until mid-Feb. 2019 with a scheduled completion date of Aug. 31, 2019.
