Soil sampling work to gather data for the planned widening of Ga. 400 has been canceled this week due to expected wet weather. Lane and shoulder closures had been scheduled north and southbound at the Big Creek and Sawnee Creek bridges for the soil work.

Despite the delay, the Georgia Department of Transportation says the $47.4 million project to widen the road to three lanes in each direction from McFarland Road to Ga. 369 remains on track, with construction expected to start late this year.
