Police in Alpharetta seized nearly a half-pound worth of marijuana earlier this month after a FedEx employee found drugs in a package.

An employee called police to the FedEx store at 1525 Morrison Parkway on July 10 after finding marijuana in a package that was on its way to an address in Canton from North Highlands, California, according to a police report.

Police arrived around 8:40 a.m. and had a K-9 officer identify the drugs.

After the dog swept the building, police unwrapped the package and found 207 grams of marijuana in a Ziploc bag, which equals about 0.45 pounds.

The marijuana was placed into evidence at the Alpharetta Department of Public Safety and the case was handed over to a special investigations unit, according to the report.

Police did not immediately respond to a request for comment.
