Nearly 1500 people brought out their lawn chairs and blankets to hear the soulful sounds of national R&B recording artist, Angie Stone, at the city of East Point’s first “Wednesday Wind Down In The Point” on May 23. Concert goers also enjoyed the musical sounds of the powerhouse unit, Mo’Sol Band, and were introduced to local artists, RedShoes &

Gravy and Jae Franklin.

While enjoying good music, they also experienced a “Taste of East Point” through food truck dishes from several East Point restaurants.

The city is gearing up for its next event on June 27th featuring Atlanta-based bands, Gritz & Jelly Butter and The Soul Cartel Band, from 5-8 p.m. in the Downtown Commons located at 2757 East Point Street.

In 2022, Georgia Power projected its winter peak electricity demand would grow by about 400 megawatts by 2031. Since then, Georgia has experienced a boom of data centers, which require a large load of electricty to run, and Georgia Power's recent forecast shows peak demand growing by 20 times the 400-megawatt estimate from just three years ago.
