Traffic in Peachtree Corners will be less of a “headache” now that a new interchange is finally open, the city said.

The southbound merge lane from Peachtree Parkway onto the controlled access portion of Ga. 141 opened this week. Drivers had to merge from two lanes down to one before the construction was complete, creating congestion in a “busy artery” through Peachtree Corners.

The new merge lane project was led by the Georgia and Gwinnett County transportation departments alongside Peachtree Corners. It also created an additional southbound ramp lane onto Ga. 141 which goes toward Winter Chapel Road.

“It will no doubt be a big improvement for our citizens and others traveling through our city,” said Mayor Mike Mason.
