10th metro Atlanta Academy Sports + Outdoors store opens in Gwinnett

The tenth Academy Sports + Outdoors store in metro Atlanta has opened in Buford.

The store on Buford Drive is a little more than a mile from the Mall of Georgia. Covering 63,000 square feet, the new location is employing 105 people in full-time and part-time positions, according to the Texas-based company.

Before the store’s grand opening, 20 kids from the Boys and Girls Clubs of Metro Atlanta received $100 shopping sprees. The kids got an advance peek at the store and used the money to buy new shoes, sports equipment and other items.

The store is open from 8 a.m. to 10 p.m. Monday through Saturday and 9 a.m. to 9:30 p.m. on Sundays. It is located at 3720 Buford Dr. in Buford.
