You know Gwinnett is great, and you know that success lives there but how much else do you know about your home county?

“Gwinnett 101” is here to fill in the gaps.

Applications are now open for the upcoming session of the county’s biannual citizens academy, a free program that gives participants a first-hand glimpse of how the county works.

Classes will be held from 6 to 9 p.m. on each Thursday between April 11 through June 27. The program is open to Gwinnett residents 18 years or older, local business owners and students who attend a local college or university.

“Participants will get a behind-the-scenes look at how Gwinnett County government provides high-quality services to the community,” officials said. “Those who take part in this program will interact with leaders in their county government, visit county facilities to get a first-hand glimpse of how the county works, and build a network with others who live, work, and learn in Gwinnett County.”

Applications must be submitted by March 3 and can be found at gwinnett101.com.

Classes are limited to 30 participants, who will be chosen by a selection committee.
