Former DeKalb County CEO Vernon Jones is heading for a runoff for a seat in the state House of Representatives.

Jones, seeking a return to elected office, missed winning an outright majority in the four-way Democratic Party primary for House District 91, which covers parts of DeKalb and Rockdale counties.

Jones will face a legal support consultant Rhonda Taylor in the July 26 runoff.

Since finishing his second term as DeKalb’s CEO in 2008, Jones has run unsuccessfully for U.S. Senate, U.S. House and county sheriff.

Small businessman Charles Hill finished in third place, and retired educator David Neville was in fourth.

The winner of the runoff will face Republican Carl Anuszczyk in the November general election.
