Two busy Gwinnett roads to be widened

May 19, 2016

Two busy Gwinnett County roads will be widened under contracts approved Tuesday by the Board of Commissioners.

Commissioners awarded a $2.9 million contract to Ohmshiv Construction LLC to widen Auburn Road from west of Jim Moore Road to Dacula Road. The company will expand Auburn Road to four lanes with a center left turn lane. The project also includes intersection upgrades at Jim Moore Road/Old Fountain Road and at Dacula Road.

Commissioners also awarded a $3.9 million contract to ER Snell Contractor Inc. to widen Peachtree Industrial Boulevard from south of McGinnis Ferry Road to north of Moore Road. The project includes intersection improvements at McGinnis Ferry, Moore Road and Ten Pin Alley.

Both projects also include sidewalks, curb and gutter and drainage improvements. Both will be paid for with money from a voter-approved 2014 special sales tax for construction projects.
