St. Louis has the Arch. Seattle has the Space Needle. Even Cobb County has the Big Chicken.

And Gwinnett County has … what?

If you're scratching your head and struggling to think of an answer, you're not alone. Last week the Gwinnett County Board of Commissioners couldn't come up with a definitive answer, either. Since the county demolished its iconic I-85 water towers six years ago (remember "Gwinnett is Great" and "Success Lives Here"?), it's been tough to think of a symbol that captures the essence of Georgia's soon-to-be largest county.

And if the county’s top elected leaders can’t think of one, who can?

Well, maybe you can.

We're taking nominations for Gwinnett's next great symbol. Is it the Historic Courthouse in Lawrenceville? Suwanee's Town Center (or another Gwinnett city's downtown)? Or maybe a commercial landmark, like the Mall of Georgia? (That is Button Gwinnett perched atop the mall, after all)

Give us your nominations. And if you’re willing to be interviewed on the subject by an AJC reporter, contact David Wickert at dwickert@ajc.com.
