Suwanee home for those with intellectual disabilities expands

Annandale Village, a Suwanee residential and day care program for adults with intellectual disabilities, is breaking ground on an expansion.

The two-story, 18,000-square-foot transitional care facility is due to open in 2015.

The current facility serves 160 people. The expansion will have an 18-bed residential area as well as a recreation and social center, meeting rooms, and other areas.

The expansion, known as the Keadle Center, will strengthen Annandale’s ability to let residents age in place, CEO Adam Pomeranz said in a statement.

The center will break ground Friday afternoon. The 55-acre campus includes a vocational skills training center, dining halls, an art studio, computer lab, a cardio gymnasium, indoor aquatic therapy pool and walking trails.
