How the state pays for public school students to learn could again be the subject of review in Georgia.

The House of Representatives voted 160-3 on Wednesday to set up a State Education Finance Study Commission to examine the Quality Basic Education funding formula for public schools. House Bill 192 now heads to the Senate for review.

The formula has come under fire in recent years, with many school systems complaining the current QBE does not fully fund education.

The study commission would consist of 27 people -- including teachers, parents and business leaders -- as appointed by the governor, House speaker and Senate president.

If approved, the panel would begin meeting no later than June and offer recommendations by Dec. 31.
