Fulton County passed a so-called living wage for its lowest-paid workers.

In a 5-2 vote, commissioners agreed to raise workers’ salaries over a five-year period.

Now, the lowest county salary is $23,500 annually. After the raises, the lowest-paid worker will make $31,000 a year.

About 10 percent of county workers will be affected.
