A special election to replace former Sen. Ronald Ramsey Sr., D-Lithonia, will be held in November.

Ramsey, whom Gov. Nathan Deal appointed last month as a judge in DeKalb State Court's Traffic Division, had served in the Senate since 2007.

The governor’s office confirmed Friday that voters in Senate District 43, which covers parts of DeKalb, Rockdale and Newton counties, will elect a new senator Nov. 3 to fill the remaining year of Ramsey’s term.
