Sandy Springs officials have finished up a months-long road project at a significant intersection.

Crews this weekend reopened Mt. Vernon Highway and Spalding Drive. It had been closed since April with a detour in place while the intersection was re-aligned and traffic signals were added. The project was aimed at speeding traffic flow and improving safety.

City officials said they’ll finish the last of the construction in the coming weeks, including shoulder work and final lane striping. Motorists are asked to use added caution while that work’s underway.
