Atlanta Mayor Keisha Lance Bottoms announced late Friday that she would replace seven top city officials including City Attorney Jeremy Berry and Atlanta Housing Authority CEO Catherine Buell.

Bottoms’ announcement follows her demand made on April 9 that all cabinet members who were appointed by former Mayor Kasim Reed — a group of about 28 people — resign.

She accepted the resignations of Chief Financial Officer Jim Beard and Communications Director Anne Torres that week.

Others who will be leaving City Hall include Renew Atlanta General Manager Faye DiMassimo, Parks and Recreation Commissioner Amy Phuong and Chief Resilience Officer Stephanie Stuckey.

In 2022, Georgia Power projected its winter peak electricity demand would grow by about 400 megawatts by 2031. Since then, Georgia has experienced a boom of data centers, which require a large load of electricty to run, and Georgia Power's recent forecast shows peak demand growing by 20 times the 400-megawatt estimate from just three years ago.
