Metrowide burn ban takes effect May 1

Metro Atlanta area will be under a total outdoor burning ban beginning May 1. The ban will be in effect until Oct. 1, however that day is subject to change based on weather conditions.

During the ban, no residential or commercial burning will be allowed. Violators face a fine of up to $1,000 a day per violation or 60 days in jail or both. The ban is mandated by the Georgia Environmental Protection division. For more details, visit the Georgia Environmental Protection Division at www.gaepd.org.
