Mayor’s indictment another addition to Snellville’s political legacy

Sept 8, 2017

Snellville has a ... reputation.

Whether it be the toilet incident(s) of 2009; the 3-3 tie vote on whether or not to adjourn a meeting; or a journey to Georgia’s Supreme Court to resolve a spat, it seems the city’s government has just not been able to get itself together in recent years.

Mayor Tom Witts added another chapter to Snellville's strange saga on Thursday, courtesy of a 66-count indictment delivered by District Attorney Danny Porter and a grand jury. Witts is accused of tax evasion, misusing campaign dollars and more — more serious additions to the city's story than usual, but additions nonetheless.
