A DeKalb County-owned horse park is in line for new amenities, and residents are invited to a meeting on Wednesday to weigh in on the proposed changes.

The Little Creek Horse Farm, located off Lawrenceville Highway in Decatur, offers riding lessons, conservation tours and events throughout the year on a 40-acre pasture. Park users now have an opportunity to present ideas on how to use 14 acres of wooded space at the park, plus review draft plans for new resources and improvements around the park.

The meeting will be held Wednesday, July 10, at  6 p.m., at the DeKalb County Fire Rescue Headquarters at 1950 West Exchange Place in Tucker. The room is Suite 400.

Additional public meetings have also been scheduled for July 20 and 28.

Two years ago, the DeKalb County commission approved $215,000 in upgrades at Little Creek.

Last year, the farm made headlines when a team of horses escaped through an open gate and ran free for a time along U.S. 78, also known as the Stone Mountain Freeway.
