A unique tax incentive plan to revamp the closed General Motors plant in Doraville would allow the site's developer to direct tax money toward a connection to MARTA.

The covered street linking the 165-acre property to the Doraville MARTA station, which would cost $50 million to $75 million, would be critical to businesses looking to locate on the site, according to developer Integral Group.

Though the DeKalb school system hasn't agreed to using public funds on the site, the Doraville Downtown Development Authority could still approve the tax financing plan at a meeting next month.
