Gwinnett County is gearing up for winter weather, partially activating its Emergency Operations Center in Lawrenceville.

Communications Director Joe Sorenson said the county Department of Transportation and police officers are monitoring roads, and DOT is on stand-by in case it needs to salt, sand or plow roads.

Sorenson said the county will decide later today whether to proceed with parks and recreation and other activities on Saturday.

Meanwhile, Gwinnett County Transit will provide four mid-day pickups today to accommodate passengers leaving Atlanta due to the inclement winter weather forecast.
