Gwinnett County, get ready to hit the pool.

All Gwinnett County Parks and Recreation aquatic facilities open for the season Saturday. Most county aquatic centers and leisure play pools offer features like beach entry, water play structures, water slides and picnic areas.

But the county wants you to keep safety in mind:

*Never leave a child unattended in a pool or spa and always watch your child when he or she is in or near the water.

*Teach children basic water safety tips.

*Keep children away from pool drains, pipes and other openings to avoid entrapment.

*Have a telephone close by when using a pool or spa.

*If a child is missing, look for him or her in the pool or spa first.

In 2022, Georgia Power projected its winter peak electricity demand would grow by about 400 megawatts by 2031. Since then, Georgia has experienced a boom of data centers, which require a large load of electricty to run, and Georgia Power's recent forecast shows peak demand growing by 20 times the 400-megawatt estimate from just three years ago.
