Gwinnett commuters will soon be able to take buses to and from the Perimeter Center area.
The State Road and Tollway Authority announced this week that the new route, which will pick up riders from the Sugarloaf Mills park-and-ride near Lawrenceville, will begin Aug. 1. Fares will be free through Aug. 14.
Buses will stop at the Dunwoody and Medical Center MARTA stations ,as well as at the intersection of Peachtree-Dunwoody Road and Concourse Parkway. Click here for schedules and more route information.
The announcement of the new Gwinnett route comes as the county ramps up work on a comprehensive transit plan, which Commission Chairman Charlotte Nash hopes will led to a referendum on transit expansion in 2018.
Gwinnett County Transit currently offers similar bus routes to the downtown Atlanta and Emory University areas but none to the Perimeter area.
