The General Motors factory in Doraville has been demolished, but new construction is having to wait on DeKalb County government leaders’ approval of many millions of dollars in public infrastructure funding.

The site's developer says the public aid is a critical component before businesses will locate on the site, known as Assembly. The money would pay for a tunnel to MARTA, streets and more.

The DeKalb Commission may consider an agreement Tuesday to finance infrastructure projects there, and the DeKalb school district may be asked to make a similar commitment next year.
