DeKalb trash bin delivery nears completion

DeKalb County is almost finished with delivering green 65-gallon trash bins to homeowners, a key step in the transition to one-day-per-week garbage collection.

Most county residents living in single-family homes whose trash is picked up on Mondays, Tuesdays or Wednesdays have received their new trash cans.

County workers plan to complete handing out trash cans to Thursday customers in the next couple of weeks.

Roll cart delivery to townhome and condominium residents will begin in September.

DeKalb switched from twice-weekly trash collection in July in an effort to save money and avoid rate increases.
