DeKalb County is looking for citizens to serve on an oversight committee that will be in charge of nominating a watchdog over the county’s government.

Applications to serve on the five-person audit oversight committee must be submitted by Sept. 11, and those chosen will be responsible for selecting candidates for the county's new independent auditor position.

The independent auditor was created by the Georgia General Assembly this spring as a way reduce inefficiencies, find fraud and expose waste, according to House Bill 599.

Candidates for the committee should have auditing experience, and they may submit their resumes to executiverecruiting@dekalbcountyga.gov.
