DeKalb County's government is encouraging homeowners to switch to low-flow toilets that reduce water bills and come with a rebate.
Older toilets use between 3.5 and 7 gallons per flush. Low-flow toilets have flush capacities of 1.6 gallons or less.
The rebate is worth either $50 and $100, depending on the size of the toilet purchased.
Since DeKalb began offering the Toilet Retrofit Rebate Program in 2008, more than 29,000 toilets have been upgraded, according to the county.
Residents can apply for rebates by mail by filling out a form on the DeKalb County Watershed website.
