DeKalb County residents can shred sensitive documents, like old tax and legal records, at two locations on Saturday.
The event is free and open to the public, and all documents will be shredded on-site. Anyone who participates may shred up to five standard-sized boxes of documents.
In addition, the county is also taking donations of gently used shoes and collecting electronics for recycling.
Document shredding will be held at Peachtree Middle School at 4664 North Peachtree Road in Dunwoody from 9 a.m. to noon on Saturday, and at the East Lake Family YMCA at 275 East Lake Blvd. in Atlanta from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Saturday.
Electronics recycling of computers, TVs, cellphones and household appliances will be available at the Lithonia Plaza parking lot at 2636 Max Cleland Blvd. in Lithonia from 9 a.m. to noon on Saturday.
Shoe recycling will take place at the same time at Peachtree Middle School and Lithonia Plaza.
The events are hosted by Keep DeKalb Beautiful, a unit of the DeKalb County Sanitation Division.
