Cox wins Republican primary for District 108

May 25, 2016

Clay Cox defeated fellow Republican Patty Gabilondo in House of Representatives District 108 Tuesday.

Cox is seeking to replace retiring state Rep. B.J. Pak in the Lilburn-area district. He will face Democrat Tokhir Radjabov in the November general election.

Cox represented the Lilburn area in the House from 2005 to 2011. Gabilondo is a retired corporate executive and former president of the Lilburn Women’s Club. She was Pak’s legislative aide last year.

Pak's district has been safely Republican for a generation, but Democrats believe they have a shot there because of its growing minority population. Even Pak believes it could be competitive as soon as 2020.
