The Cobb County Board of Commissioners agreed 5-0 Tuesday to improve Factory Shoals Road in preparation for the new Federal Express facility in South Cobb.

Commissioner Lisa Cupid said the facility will provide 300 new jobs.

SunCap Property Group will develop the facility as the company has done for three FedEx distribution centers in New York and one in Nevada.

The total price for the roadwork is estimated to cost nearly $2.3 million with the county paying about $2 million from the 2011 SPLOST funds.

The commissioners agreed to submit a $300,000 grant application to the Georgia Department of Transportation which already has been approved by GDOT.

C.W. Matthews Contracting Co., Inc. will align vertical curves and install curb, gutter, sidewalks and paving from the Cobb County/Douglas County line to White Road with a completion date of May 9.

Cobb also will pay $206,549 to relocate Georgia Power facilities for the Factory Shoals project.
