Cobb Tax Commissioner retiring at end of year
Cobb County Tax Commissioner Gail Downing is retiring to spend more time with her family effective December 31, 2013, after 29 years.
Downing began her career in the Tax Commissioner’s Office in 1985, when she agreed to serve as Chief Deputy under Jim McDuffie. She became the Tax Commissioner in 2002, and won re-elections in 2004, 2008 and 2012.
Carla Jackson will become the new Tax Commissioner effective January 1, 2014.
