Can trashed DeKalb neighborhood be saved?

The situation at Brannon Hill Condominiums has gotten so bad that DeKalb County's government is going to court to intervene.

The partially burnt-down condos are littered with piles of tires, worn mattresses and broken-down cars. The area near Memorial Drive attracts gangs, drug dealing and squatters.

But even if the county's lawsuit is successful and it can start cleaning up the community, that would only be a first step.

While some residents say they’re desperate for help, others say the neighborhood may be beyond repair.
